Jonathan Taikina Taylor is an actor, director, and movement artist based in Brooklyn. As Artistic Director of The SuperGeographics, he has directed: The Monk & The Warrior at India’s National Center for the Performing Arts. Un Castillo de Cartas,  performed in Santiago Chile & New York, Panic Everything’s Fine, Bacchic, Moving Mouths, RePlay: Shelter Island, and Signal. Under his direction The SuperGeographics work has been seen across The US and in Sweden, Chile, and India. He has also directed Constance Strickland’s Madea Refracted at The Getty Villa in Malibu, California. Jonathan is an Associate Artist of Anne Bogart’s SITI Company and has performed with Anikaya Dance, Kairos Dance Theatre, En Guard Arts and with the Suzuki Company of Toga in Greetings from the Edge of the Earth under the direction of Tadashi Suzuki. 

New York Credits include directing Fuenteovejuna (Powerhouse/Vassar), The Importance of Being Earnest (Mabuo Mines), Adam & Evie (Dixon Place), Julius Caesar (The Brick). Jonathan has served as Movement Director for Spaceman by Leegrid Stevens (Drama Desk Nominated best Solo-Show) and several short films including Britain Ashford’s “I Could Have Danced All Night” music video. 

International Credits include: La Casa Azul in Kathmandu, a play on the life and work of Frida Kahlo performed by 60 Nepali 9th Graders. Additionally, he has taught workshops in India, Ireland, Italy, Peru, and Russia.

BFA in Theater Arts from Boston University 
MA in Political Science; International Relations and Global Justice from Brooklyn College. 

 

He is a core member at ROCC, where he helps immigrants navigate asylum applications, accompanies court appointments, assists in translation, runs the summer camp, and has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support vulnerable new yorkers.

Sometimes he pretends to be a carpenter (Carp-Bttm) at RH Guest and Associates, where he’s not an associate but has helped build museum installations throughout NYC, including at The Met, Center for Jewish History, New York Historical Society, Hispanic Society Museum & Library, and NY Public Library (the big one in Midtown).
